If you own your home and it is your primary residence on January 1st of the tax year, you qualify for a General Homestead exemption. If you own your home, it is your primary residence, and you are 65 years of age or older, you qualify for both a General Homestead and an additional exemption based on your age. There are also special exemptions for disabled homeowners and disabled veterans and their survivors.
